SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Wednesday Oct. 5th: Registration starts...
The Don Airheart Memorial Golf Tournament is to be held at the
Bridges Golf Club, Abbottstown, Pa. Our tee time is set for 10:30 AM. That should allow for late arrivals to the hotel.
The cost is $32
for Seniors and $40 for all the Young Whipper Snappers. That includes
green fees and cart.
"The tournament format will be a four man scramble format as described
below. The winning team will have their names inscribed on the
tournament plaque".
In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots
is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best
of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that
spot, and so on until the ball is holed. Each players tee shot must be
used at least twice. Mulligans are available at $5 a piece or 3 for
$10 and may be used on the fairway or green. The team may use four per
hole until all are used but each player may only use one of his Mulligans per hole if he chooses.
The
Hospitality Room will be open around 2:00 pm to pickup your Welcome
package and come visit with old and new friends.
Thursday Oct. 6th:
We will be picked up at our hotel and travel past
Lancaster to Bird-In-Hand Village, where we will leave the bus for an
hour shopping or snacking & drinking stop. Then on to the Amish
Experience, where we will take a tour of Amish Farmlands and Homestead. From
there we head to Plain & Fancy Farms for lunch and shopping at the
country store.
We hit the road again and go to Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse
where we get to nosey about until recall to the buses. Coming and going are
through the PA Dutch countryside and with any luck at all we will see horse and
carriages and teams of either horses or mules bringing in crops or plowing for
spring planting. We will get back to our hotel at about 5:45 pm. The cost of the
trip with lunch is $65 per person.
The Hospitality Room will be open around 2:00 pm so you can visit with old and new
friends.
Friday Oct. 7th:
We leave the hotel at 8:00 am
and head for the battle field. (10 minute trip) We
are scheduled to start with the Cyclorama, film and museum. About
2 hours. Then on to tour the battlefield. We
are working on having park rangers take us through.
Next, and all too soon, we will head for Hickory Bridge Farm where I am
assured we will have a lunch to remember. After lunch we will have 2 hours to
visit the battle field on our own time and return to the hotel at about 4 pm.
The cost of this day including lunch will be $60 a person.
With a little luck I might find someone who stood to close
to the beer in Hospitality Room willing to take a bet that he can't make it the
whole route of Pickett's Charge. Tree line to Seminary ridge.
I have done it with a bunch of boy scouts many times.
No one made it! And Remember, Lee's boys were all wearing very heavy
uniforms and gear.
The Hospitality Room will be open around 2:00 pm so you can visit with old and new friends.

going to join us. When they first arrived they were "Rowell's Rats"

Pressey and wife, Jim Chatham and wife, and Gordy Degaw.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Gettysburg!
