114th Newsletter Update 7-14-2017

Please see our updated plans for the reunion at Fort Rucker

The Hampton Inn, by Hilton is our primary hotel. There may be just a
few weekend rooms available…Be sure to ask for the 114th BLOCK
.

A hot breakfast buffet is included in your stay. The address is: 8 West
 Pointe Court.
Phone is 334-347-5763. (Hospitality room is here)

The Holiday Inn Express at 9 North Point Blvd is our backup hotel
for more rooms. The address is: 9 North Pointe Blvd. Phone is
334-347-2211. At last check, they have about a 20 room block for us
.

Also, there are cabin and RV spots at Lake Tholocco.
Lodging office is 334-255-4234.

On Wednesday, we will be open for registration at 12:00 noon.

Also, our meal that evening will be a light fare ~ between 5:30-7:30pm,
Open house style with small sandwiches & finger foods, veggies &
fruit…enough for a meal while getting reacquainted with friends.

If you are interested in the Golf event on Wednesday, be sure to
contact Jeff Carr for information. Northwestmtg@harbornet.com

The first tour day, Thursday, our members will tour the Post Training
Facility
. Due to the size of our group, this tour will be only for
Veterans
. They plan to see the Rifle range, the Night Vision operations,
and at least two more stations.
The tour starts at 8:00am ~ departure
from the hotel about 7:30am.
Each group of about 20 will rotate thru
each of 4 stops…lunch will be about 11:30 at the Landing. A German
meal has been arranged. Any alcohol will be a separate charge. We
plan to be back to the hotel around 4:30pm.

The Association will provide transportation, with the help of our
members… however we will need about 4 personal vehicles
to cover overflow.

Also on Thursday, our guests/dependents are invited to attend a
luncheon in Daleville, at The Castle Café.
(A German full course
meal). We will have an informative speaker and an opportunity to shop
at Ingrid’s jewelers. Specializing in military jewelry for ladies and
 gents, her website is http://www.ingridsjewelers.com

Personal vehicle is our form of transportation. Please plan to meet
with your friends and share a ride.

Dinner on Thursday, at the hotel, is being catered by the BBQ Shack.

Friday, we will all go to the Army Aviation Museum on Post.

We will stagger our departure and lunch times for the facilities to be
able to accommodate our large group. At the midpoint of the day
we will all meet at the Museum to take our group photograph.

We also suggest that you see the Veterans Memorial just across from
 the Museum
. Lunch will be at Divots at the Silver Wings Golf Club.

The Association will provide transportation.

Dinner on Friday, at the hotel, is being catered by Milano Ristorante.

Saturday, Association members will have a business meeting in the
 hotel hospitality room at 9am
.
Once completed, we can enjoy lunch
 together at the hotel
(catered by Subway) and take advantage of some free time.

In the afternoon, we will go to the Post Headquarters Chapel for our
 traditional memorial service at 4:00pm
. Following our service, we will
 go
The Landing (Rucker’s old Officer’s club) for our Banquet.

(Coat and tie is the suggested attire)

We also plan to have a photographer taking family photos for our
 pictorial address directory.
(and possibly another group photo)
The Association will provide transportation.

Please note that we are following suggestions by the Post Community
Relations office and minimizing personal vehicles on Post. Also, take
note that we will need at least one Retiree photo ID per vehicle, and
everyone will need a government issued ID to be allowed on Post.

Since our Memorial service will be held on Saturday
afternoon, there are no formal events for Sunday.
The hospitality room will be open to anyone wishing to
 visit or say farewells.

You’ll note that we have several meals planned for the hotel hospitality
room ~ we hope that this will offer you more time to visit with each
other. If you have family or friends in the area, feel free to opt out of
our meal…we’ll understand…but you can invite them to join in our
event and get to know us too! We want this to be fun for all!

Feel free to call, email or text any questions you may have before our
reunion begins. Thank you for the opportunity to see all of you again.
